Phillip Island Adult Riding Club was formed in 2005. We are a small but dedicated group of HRCAV riders and friends, sharing our love of horses and striving to improve our skills through education, fun and competition.

Our beautiful club grounds and facilities are the Ventnor Recreation Reserve on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia, also home to the Phillip Island Pony Club.

PIARC members have access to the show-jumping arena, menage and open area of the club grounds for general riding and training, along with the opportunity to learn and train with top quality instructors at our monthly rallies (generally the 3rd Sunday, sometimes Saturday of each month), and can also take part in club ‘goings-on’ at our club meetings or trail rides in local locations.

PIARC uniform colours are black & pale blue, but for some time now (maybe since COVID) we have been fairly relaxed with our dress code 🙂 Branded clothing and saddle blanket logos can be organised for members who wish to be a little more fancy or represent the club at competitions. Please contact the committee for further info.

Annual fees are set each year at the end of October and the new membership year begins 01 November.

2023-2024 Riding Member = $270

Comprising of: HRCAV Membership $67, Insurance $103, PIARC Membership $100.

2023-2024 Non-Riding Member = $65

Comprising of: HRCAV Membership $18, Insurance $22, PIARC Membership $25.

Please contact us for more info on joining the club or attending a rally.

Rallies are usually held on the 3rd Sunday (sometimes Saturday) of each month at Ventnor Reserve. Information, meeting or rally dates, social notifications and other updates are published on the Facebook page, and e-mailed direct to members by PIARC Committee Members.

Costs:

Rally costs vary depending on riding numbers and instructors, but average between $90 to $120 per lesson. As our rallies are held monthly, we generally have 7 dressage lessons, with 5 opportunities for jumping, poles, 3PE (equitation) and trail rides. When interest is shown, other disciplines are welcomed on the rally days after consultation with members.

Payment:

Can be made with cash the day or via direct deposit (details below).

Account name: Phillip Island Adult Riding Club

BSB: 633 000

Account number: 14366 5750

We are a family of like-minded horsey people who come together to have fun, practice our riding & enjoy time with our horses (and each other), but there are a few guidelines we ask for everyone to follow, so we don’t have to get the whip out (pun intended).

Rally Dates are posted via Facebook / email with as much notice as possible to confirm interest or book a place on the day. Please respond at your earliest convenience, so the Rally Coordinator doesn’t have to turn into a friendly pest & also nominate a time you would prefer, so we can aim to please as many people as possible!

Lesson times are generally 45 mins, and are usually followed consecutively by the next lesson – so if you are late, you will likely have a shorter ride.

Booked lessons need to be paid for if you do not attend – the alternative being a replacement rider with current HRCAV insurance & membership. Should replacement riders not have HRCAV insurance & membership, a $30 day membership charge will be applied to the cost of the lesson to cover liability costs.

We also have a cancellation Policy to follow as a club, which can be used a guideline when making decisions about cancellations at rallies – please ask the Rally Coordinator for further information.

Please ensure you clean up after yourselves and your 4-legged friends after each day at the ground or at the end of each rally. All manure, hay, or other organic waste on the grounds (tie up area, yards, arenas etc…) must be cleaned up and placed in the ‘poo pile,’ near the front gate of the grounds. All other rubbish must be collected and placed in the garbage or recycling bins provided (this includes doing the dishes / cleaning the loos in the clubroom if used). Gates and padlocks need to be locked, shut and stored in the key safes.

Lastly, when using the grounds on non-rally days, please be sure to volunteer to ‘groom,’ the arena frequently and ensure any equipment is tidied away, so the next person who uses the area doesn’t have to clean up after you.

After a bit of a rocky start to the winter rallies - not enough people & not enough time to book before tomorrow - we have made the decision to cancel the June Rally & aim for a slightly different approach for the July & August Rallies 🐴

Proposing to still book Danyiera (min 3-4 hours), but have Vanda Morgan teach us poles / flat / jumping at both dates in the indoor as group or private lessons (depending on interest).

Appreciate that some of you can’t always attend the PIARC meetings & therefore can’t provide feedback when we propose activities or ideas, so we have made a 2024 version of the original PIARC Rally Coordination / Communication Survey to allow everyone who is a current member to provide feedback 🙂

So, can all current members take 1-2 mins to complete the survey to help us help you! Many thanks & hope you’re all staying warm - winter is definitely here!

EOI PIARC Rally Group Danyiera Indoor Arena Hire & poles / jump lesson. Our July / August rallies will be the hire of an indoor arena held at Danyiera Performance Stud in Pakenham for half a day, depending on interest & range between $80-110 per person. The plan is to have a shared or private lesson with Vanda Morgan, use the wonderful facilities, ride in their beautiful indoor, and not have the impacts of winter/wet weather!

Sunday 21st July 2024
Sunday 18th August 2024

Please respond ASAP with your preferred date, and our rally coordinator will book a time for us to enjoy these incredible facilities! Link to Danyiera In the comments 🐴

PIARC June meeting coming up next Tuesday 4th and we want to make it a social catchup as well. We don’t have a lot to talk about meeting wise (as far as I know) apart from plans for our Winter rallies.

For those ‘off Island’ members we thought dinner at the San Remo Hotel might be a bit less travel time. At this stage suggesting 7.00pm.

Please RSVP to Carolyn or myself (Jilly) as we will need to book 🐴
