Phillip Island Adult Riding Club was formed in 2005. We are a small but dedicated group of HRCAV riders and friends, sharing our love of horses and striving to improve our skills through education, fun and competition.

Our beautiful club grounds and facilities are the Ventnor Recreation Reserve on Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia, also home to the Phillip Island Pony Club.

PIARC members have access to the show-jumping arena, menage and open area of the club grounds for general riding and training, along with the opportunity to learn and train with top quality instructors at our monthly rallies (generally the 3rd Sunday, sometimes Saturday of each month), and can also take part in club ‘goings-on’ at our club meetings or trail rides in local locations.

PIARC uniform colours are black & pale blue. We don’t have a strict uniform, but branded clothing and saddle blanket logos can be organised for members who compete. Please contact the committee for further info.

We are a family of like-minded horsey people who come together to have fun, practice our riding & enjoy time with our horses (and each other), but there are a few guidelines we ask for everyone to follow, so we don’t have to get the whip out (pun intended).

Rally Dates are posted via Facebook / email with as much notice as possible to confirm interest or book a place on the day. Please respond at your earliest convenience, so the Rally Coordinator doesn’t have to turn into a friendly pest & also nominate a time you would prefer, so we can aim to please as many people as possible!

Lesson times are generally 45 mins, and are usually followed consecutively by the next lesson – so if you are late, you will likely have a shorter ride.

Booked lessons need to be paid for if you do not attend – the alternative being a replacement rider with current HRCAV insurance & membership. Should replacement riders not have HRCAV insurance & membership, a $30 day membership charge will be applied to the cost of the lesson to cover liability costs.

We also have a cancellation Policy to follow as a club, which can be used a guideline when making decisions about cancellations at rallies – please ask the Rally Coordinator for further information.

Please ensure you clean up after yourselves and your 4-legged friends after each day at the ground or at the end of each rally. All manure, hay, or other organic waste on the grounds (tie up area, yards, arenas etc…) must be cleaned up and placed in the ‘poo pile,’ near the front gate of the grounds. All other rubbish must be collected and placed in the garbage or recycling bins provided (this includes doing the dishes / cleaning the loos in the clubroom if used). Gates and padlocks need to be locked, shut and stored in the key safes.

Lastly, when using the grounds on non-rally days, please be sure to volunteer to ‘groom,’ the arena frequently and ensure any equipment is tidied away, so the next person who uses the area doesn’t have to clean up after you.

Inviting all HRCAV riding members to our Rally with Rachelle Wilson on Sunday October 26th.
Rachelle’s interest in horses has developed from a very early age. Interested in riding as soon as she could walk, a passion for all sports Equestrian grew from an early age. During Rachelle’s childhood she was encouraged to experience a number of disciplines and tried her hand at eventing, showjumping and endurance riding before settling on her passion for working on the flat. Rachelle spent many years as a young rider educating and showing a variety of horses from Arabs to Thoroughbred Hacks. After experiencing and winning most things in the show ring from Royals, Barastoc and Nationals, Rachelle wanted to be challenged further hence her passion for the sport of Dressage.

“I have been a serious Dressage competitor for many years with experience and success competing in the lower levels of dressage, up to and including the FEI levels. I am a professional rider and trainer, coaching and conducting clinics around Victoria and when time permits, interstate. I also compete all over Victoria and interstate most weekends. I am a full time professional rider, trainer and coach however for many years was a classroom teacher. The skills I have acquired being a classroom teacher certainly enhance my ability to assist and understand rider’s individual learning styles, making it easy for me as a dressage coach to adapt my teaching, enabling riders to achieve the most out of lessons. As a coach my passion is being part of the planning of goals and then assisting riders along their path to achieving such goals. I am a Myofunctional Therapy practitioner and have also written Myofunctional Therapy courses being taught at institutions such as Melbourne University. Being a Myofunctional Therapist provides me with a thorough understanding of the development and well-being of the competition horse. Such knowledge assists me to develop individual training programs that allows each horse to build the strength and capacity to carry out the movements required of him, with ease.

I have had many years of experience not only competing but also training horses from Novice up to and including FEI levels of Dressage. Being an EA Level 2 coach, I train a variety of horse/rider combinations from green/inexperienced to FEI level dressage each week. Being a qualified Myofunctional Therapist allows me to take on a more holistic approach towards developing a competition horse.
